Hello everyone,
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful week!
On Monday Penguins class had English café thank you to all the parents who manage to come we all enjoyed some lovely and exciting activities as you can see from the photos below.
Year 5 and 6 loved meeting Bernard the robot dog. The children were fascinated by the engineering and programming which had gone into creating the robot at Boston Dynamics. They loved how he was able to do tricks like a normal dog and how his sensors allowed him to stop and change direction when there was an obstruction in his way and prevented him from falling over.
This half term, some children in year 5 and 6 have been working alongside a computer science student from Durham University, gaining hands on experience with coding. They have been learning the basics of programming using Turtle Academy, where they explored the language of script through fun and interactive lessons. This has laid the groundwork for their next steps, where they will soon be progressing to python, deepening their understanding of coding concepts and further developing their programming skills.
Temilade's Time to Shine. The hard work and effort Temilade had put in to preparing for her Time to Shine was clear when she shared with us her fantastic presentation on her home country of Nigeria.
