We achieve this through showing good practice in our online safety policy and procedures including equipping our staff, parents and children with the knowledge they need to understand online dangers and how best to react should an incident arise. We make teaching online safety fun, interactive, challenging and memorable for all pupils.

Digital Leaders

We have a conscientious and established digital leader group in schoolThe group has representatives from across each year group and meets regularly to tackle online safety related issuesThe children act as delegates and class envoys to support discussions, collect suggestions and provide feedback for the classSome of their work so far has involved introducing SMART online to our children, designing an online safety mascot and having key roles in Online Safety Assemblies.  The digital leaders are currently working on supporting their peers to take the U ARE test before trying out new websites and apps.  The U ARE test helps children to realize that they are responsible for their actions online and building positive online behaviors to protect themselves and others when online.

Online Safety Mascot

The Digital Leaders helped to create our Online Safety MascotWe held a competition for the children to design the mascot, considering what they thought we needed to share about online safety.  The winning design was then turned into a soft toy which the children can take to their lessons and associate with everything online safetyThe children named our mascot WIFI and can be found around school reminding children of how to stay safe online.

Safer Internet Day

Here at Framwellgate Moor Primary school we jumped at the opportunity to get involved with annual Safer Internet Days led by the UK Safer Internet CentreUsing the theme of, ‘Want to talk about it’ allowed us to celebrate all things technology and to think about any worries we might have about being onlineIn assemblies and in our classes, we took part in a variety of activities aimed at helping us to have conversations about our lives online.   We wanted to share our thoughts and discussions with others and created a video wall of our thoughts and ideas.  Head over to our curriculum page to find out more.

For the most recent Safer Internet Day we looked at how technology inspires changeWe thought about how technology has changed over time including looking at how the internet has evolvedWe looked at changes in everyday technology such as mobile phones and how the design, use and purpose of telephones has evolvedKS2 looked at the arrival and impact of Artificial Intelligence will have on technology and the implications for change in the futureDigital leaders helped share key points with children in assembly and supported our discussions.

Examples of this kind of behaviour include inappropriate text messaging, e-mailing or blogging, sending offensive or degrading images by phone or via the internet, excluding individuals from group chat and creating false personas to mock or humiliate others Here at Framwellgate Moor Primary School we want to support parents in dealing with cyberbullyingBelow are some useful links to keep you and your family safe onlineThey include a range of websites, articles and downloadable guides on how to use parental controls across a range of devices.
