termly homework project

Alicia blew us all away this week when she brought in her termly homework project into school. She had spent time at home creating a fantastic model of a volcano, which allowed us to name the different features we have been learning about in class.  Alicia then mixed baking soda and vinegar to demonstrate a foamy eruption for us all to enjoy.  Great work, Alicia!

Angelyn's Time to Shine

Angelyn shone brightly during her Time to Shine this week as she showcased her beautiful artwork to us all. She had spent a lot of time using the techniques she had been taught in school to produce beautiful paintings using acrylic paints on canvas. Most were based on the theme of plants and one on emotions.  Angelyn informed us of what inspires her, gave us some top tips on how to create artwork in the same style, talked to us about how painting makes her feel and discussed her future plans for her artwork. The class were extremely interested in her work and asked some fantastic questions to find out more about her talent. Impressive work, Angelyn!
 

Maryam's Time to shine 

In Panda class, Maryam spoke passionately her love of playing the violin. She had prepared a very informative presentation and then played us a selection of song. To finish, the children asked her some very thoughtful questions to find out more information. Well done Maryam you were fantastic!!

Sasha's TIME TO SHINE 

On Friday 14th February Sasha from Panda's class impressed us with her Time to Shine PowerPoint presentation all about her theatre school Razzamatazz!  She shared photos and details about her club and is clearly very talented!  Thanks Sasha, we enjoyed this so much!

Shamim's & Evie's Time to shine

The children in Panda class are really enjoying their 'Time To Shine' at the moment. Recently, Shamim told us all about a special family trip to the Lake District and her visit to Beatrix Potter's house. Then this week Evie talked to us about her love for gymnastics. She proudly showed us her medal collection and a trophy she had won. They had both put lots of thought into what they were going to say to the class. Well done! You both spoke clearly and confidently.

Leo's time to shine

On Friday 7th February Leo from Pandas shared his favourite book, Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto as part of his time to shine.  Our children loved hearing about the book, and it was passed around the class so we could all have a glimpse at what Leo had kindly brought in to share.

Harvey's time to shine paragraph

Harvey impressed us all with his footballing achievements in his Time to Shine this week. He put a lot of effort into producing a fantastic presentation to share with us information about the team he plays for and to show us photographs of his training ground and teammates. Harvey also told us about his experience of being awarded Player of the Match and even brought in one of his trophies for us to look at. We are all very proud of you, Harvey. You certainly are a footballing star!

Sky and Savannah's Time to shine 

On Friday 31st January Sky and Savannah shared their love of horses during their Time to Shine session in Pandas Class.

We loved hearing about their experiences of horse riding and were introduced to their very own toy horse!  They also shared 2 rosettes.  Thank you girls!

Luke's Time to shine

Luke did a fantastic telling the Tigers class all about the Beavers and Cubs. Well done Luke!

Temilade's Time to Shine 

 
The hard work and effort Temilade had put in to preparing for her Time to Shine was clear when she shared with us her fantastic presentation on her home country of Nigeria. We learnt lots of fun facts about Nigeria's location, its physical and human geography, the different cultures you will find there and the languages spoken. Temilade also made our mouths water when she talked to us about the Nigerian foods she likes to eat - we all agreed we would love to try jollof rice!  It was great to see photographs of her and her family in traditional dress too. Thank you and well done, Temilade!

Martha and Megan's time to shine

It was Martha and Megan's time to shine in Panda's class on Friday 24th January.  Martha presented a PowerPoint all about her dance school, the amazing competitions she has taken part in and all of the wonderful medals she has been awarded!  Well done Martha, we loved hearing about your hobby!  Keep up the great work!

Megan's Time to shine

Megan shared her badges from Beavers where she has been awarded her 2 year anniversary badge, Science, Cycling and an overnight stay badge.  Well done Megan.  She also showed us her favourite purse with the character Stitch.  Thank you so much Megan.

Team building

On Thursday 23rd January Y4 spent an enjoyable afternoon at Framwellgate School, taking part in Team Building and Problem solving activities.  Our Year 4 children had great fun, making decisions in small groups to solve problems with a sporting theme.

This week in Panda class was Yasir's turn to shine. What a wonderful presentation he did all about eye health. This fitted in really well with our PSHE topic as we had been learning about our physical health in particular oral health just the day before. Yasir spoke clearly to the class and answered questions from the children. Panda class were all very proud of Yasir. Well Done!!

Louise Time to Shine

Louise wowed us all with her Lego models in her Time to Shine today. She told us all about how long it took her to construct her models and when she started to take an interest in Lego. Louise's favourite model was her 'Octopus Ballet', which we all agreed was a very imagintive idea. We loved how many of her designs were interactive with various moveable and spinning parts. There were even hidden presents inside of some of them. Well done,  Louise! 

TIME TO SHINE

During the busy lead up to Christmas, both Callie and Nawrah had their 'Time To Shine' in Panda class. Callie spoke confidently about her pet dog and we loved looking at her photographs. Nawrah had prepared an amazing presentation all about Malaysia. She presented with confidence and even had a quiz at the then end. Then this week it was Molly's turn. She told us all about her tramolining achievements and the children had some thoughtful questions for her to find out more. Well done to all. It is so lovely to find out things we didn't know about the the children in our class.

Akhmet Time to shine

We are very proud of Akhmet, his time to shine was well presented, planned thoroughly and presented with enthusiasm and clarity well done Akhmet.

Elsie's Time to Shine

Elsie produced a fantasic poster to support her presentation about her much loved and extremely cute pet hedgehog, Frank. We loved hearing about the games she used to play with him, and we were all surprised to hear his favourite food was chicken! Thank you for sharing with us today, Elsie. 

Mazin's Time to Shine

Mazin brought in a man of the match trophy and a medal to talk to us about his amazing achievements in football. Could Mazin be the next Messi? We are all sure he could be if he keeps up the fantastic effort. Well done, Mazin!

Mila's Time to Shine

Mila brought in her sketchpad and showed the class a variety of artwork which she has created. For example, she created an amazing imaginary creature by building it from parts of different fantasy creatures and animals.

MATHS 

In Maths today, we made 3D shapes using sticks and plasticine. This was to help us to describe a 3D shapes properties using mathematical vocabualry such as faces, edges and vertices'. We then used these models to support our learning for the next activities.'

Layla's time to shine 

This week it was Layla's 'Time To Shine' in Panda Class. She talked us through a photograph, newspaper article and several videos from her fabulous trip to Lapland. The snow was just amazing to see. Thank you Layla you did an amazing job!

We used plasticine to create model Teeth. We used a colour key to show the different types of teeth. 

Time To Shine

This week it was William's turn for 'My Time To Shine' in Panda's. What an amazing job he did. William brought in a model skeleton which included many body parts. We all listened carefully as he spoke confidently about different body parts. The children then asked William some questions at the end. Well done William!

Tigers completing the Digestive Journey 

We worked in teams to create a large human digestive system by drawing around one team member and the identifying and labelling the different organs and their function.

22.10.24 - Prehistory in Britain with the Oriental Museum. 

Today we worked with historians and archaeologists from Durham University to carry out a primary source investigation with artefacts. We also explored human remains with osteoarchaeology to gather clues about how people lived at the time and created our own Iron Age clan along with coins to represent them.

Time to shine

Abdulaziz had worked hard to create an informative talk about PlayStation 5. Topics included the design, popular games and fun accessories. He brought his presentation to a close with a well chosen quiz to test the new knowledge of the rest of the class. Well done, Abdulaziz!

Time To Shine

This week we had our first 'Time To Shine' in Panda class. Hareem was chosen and she spoke confidently to the class all about our teeth and the different jobs they do. She had prepared for this and had brought along some images and had typed what she wanted to say. She did an amazing job. We are super proud of Hareem!!!Well Done!!!
